WIAW: Rain to Snow

I can’t believe that it’s already November 7th.  I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is in 15 days and Christmas is only in 48 days.

But what I reallyyy can’t believe is today’s forecast…  Rain to snow.  Really?!  Where did fall go?

I wholeheartedly am happy that Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner [I'm dreaming of all the holiday eats, treats, decorations, and celebrations], buttt I don’t think I’m ready for snow quite yet.

If I was still living in Boston I wouldn’t be so surprised, but I’m in Virginia [aka "the south" as most people call it], and I’d like another week or two of fall.

I’d like to continue enjoying the beautiful fall foliage, the reasonable temperatures, and all things pumpkin…

But that’s not looking very promising so I guess this weekend it’s time to unpack my boots with the fur and my puffy parka.

Stay warm y’all!  A bowl of tomato soup sounds perfect for dinner tonight, I hope it’ll warm me up from the inside out.

One of my girlfriends just teased me saying that it’s supposed to be in the 70′s today down in Texas…  I may have to start pushing Ryan to move more south ;)

XOXO,

Allison

P.S.  I probably should have used winter weather pictures to go along with today’s rant, but it’s Wednesday so I stuck with the traditional WIAW [What I Ate Wednesday] theme and used my food pictures to comfort me through this cold transition into winter…  Just go with it, haha!

Question:  Have you seen any snow yet this season?!  It’s not raining, nor snowing so I’m doubtful we’ll actually see anything today…

Question:  What’s the tastiest thing you’ve eaten recently?

Whatcha Think?

  1. Just started snowing here! Wintry mix really…snow flakes and rain.

  2. First of all, that cupcake you posted looks SO GOOD! I’m literally like drooling!! Secondly, I’m living in Baltimore now (also sorta the south?) and I’m not okay with this rain/snow mix. It’s still early november! I still have to wear a tank top and spandex shorts outside at xc meets! I’m from NH so I’m used to the cold weather coming early there… but here? Not okay with it.

    • You’re in Bmore? You’re so close! We’ve been meaning to make a trip up there soon to go to the Aquarium, probably this winter :) And girlll, you better wear some spandex, you’re gonna freeze!

  3. I am actually super ready for snow, but I will never be ready for the cold weather that comes with it. I hate being cold! :( I guess that is why I prefer to just look at the snow from inside my house!

The most delicious thing that I have eaten lately is sweet potato dal from the Everyday Happy Herbivore cookbook (I just recently posted about it on my blog). It is sooo good!

    • Haha, agreed! I love how beautiful snow looks but I do not like driving it or how cold it gets! If only it could be like in the movies when it snows in the summer :P

  4. what are the little burger patty things in the 2nd set of pictures?

    everything looks delicious!

i also cant believe the holidays are nearly upon us! CRAP, I GOTTA START SHOPPING FOR PRESENTS!

  5. Wow! Can’t believe they’re expecting snow in Virginia…must be due to good ol’ Sandy, huh? We’ve been having the weirdest weather fluctuations here in Tennessee, but luckily no snow just yet. Though we don’t really tend to get snow…just ice and slushy nasty stuff…blech! I am NOT a fan. Too bad it can’t stay fall (and 75-80 degrees) year round! Ugh, I need to move to Hawaii! ;)

Loving all the pancake pics at the top! Mmmm!

Tastiest thing I’ve eaten recently: My Oatmeal Raisin Flax Pancakes…tasted JUST like oatmeal cookies! :D

    • Oh. my. goodness. gracious. those sound delicious! Oatmeal raisin cookies are my absolute favorite :D And I totally agree about the weather, every year around this time I start questioning why I don’t live more south with warmer weather but then spring and summer roll around and I love it!

  6. I don’t even know which set of pictures to comment on because it ALL looks delicious girl!!!

Tastiest thing I’ve eaten so recently: Your Peanut Butter Pancakes. They turned out great

  7. I think the thing that sucked the most was we were having all this great fall weather and the leaves were beautiful, and then when Sandy rolled in it was like insta-winter! The leaves fell off, everything looks dead, haven’t seen the sun in 2 weeks (maybe more?!), and it’s super cold! I live in PA and we got some snow/rain mix last night, but nothing that stuck. I am super over the frigid temps, but thankfully it’s supposed to be in the 60s this weekend, glorious!

Can’t believe the holidays are so soon, I need to start thinking about Christmas shopping, crazy!

    • I agree and thankfully this weekend was a beautiful treat from the frigid temps we had last week… If only it could have stuck around for a while! Anddd I cannot wait to start Christmas shopping :D

  8. as per usual your pics have me totally drooling! i look forward to your breakfast instagrams each day hahaha. ugh i am so not ready for snow! it seems so early even though i live in ct!

  9. Is Thanksgiving really that soon?? I mean, I’m more than ready for the eats and treats too, but I can’t believe it’s suddenly the holiday season. And gingerbread cookie season–I see those delicious goodies in there, and I want one ;D

  10. I’m in Texas and we’ve had 70′s all week, but believe me we make up for it in the Summer! ;)
Love all of your little collages and all of your eats look fantastic!
