Absolute Blast

This weekend has been an absolute blast – there’s no denying it :D   I didn’t go sky diving, or take a tropical vacation, or win $1 million dollars, but I did…

Eat a super simple, super scrumptious breakfast.  Van’s waffles are the bomb[dot]com.  They fill your kitchen with the faintest cinnamon scent while they’re toasting.  They’re full of flavor – they’re delicious naked, but toppings are always an added bonus.  And they stay crispy and never get soggy, regardless of however many toppings you pile on.

Go to World Market and Walmart.  Holy moly, these two stores are absolutely, amazingly awesome!  I originally needed to go to World Market to buy another bottle of Torani [since I may or may not have accidentally opened a bottle that I had planned on sending to the giveaway winner] but walked out with much, much more…  There was a cool collection candies, all-natural sodas, an assortment of international beers and wines, and aisle after aisle of specialty foods, as well as common foods that were priced wicked cheap.  I was in heaven!

After World Market Ryan needed to swing by Walmart for some sort of computer cable.  While he was browsing through the electronics, I perused the grocery department.  Grapefruits for 60 cents?  Avocados for 80 cents?  Chobani for $1?  It was too good to be true!  We walked out with a $35 bill but if we were at our local grocery store, it would have been at least double that.  Winning!

See Safe Haven.  Sometimes a girl needs a good cry and this movie gave me that.  I’ve loved Julianne Hough since I saw her in Footloose [laugh all you want] and Josh Duhamel is always cute.  I had no idea that the movie was going to be as suspenseful as it was, but I definitely think it’s worth seeing if you have a few free hours on a dreary afternoon.  After the movie Alex and I grabbed coffee and got lost in deep conversation – it was fabulous.  Side note: is jaywalking illegal in DC?

Receive new-to-me goodies.  Thanks to Alex I now have a box of quinoa milk [I joke, but for some strange reason boxed milk makes me think of breast milk?!] and 2 bottles of NuNaturals stevia.  I’ve heard great things about the NuNaturals line but I can’t justify paying that much for such little liquid – I’m thankful for giving friends!  I’d love to use them to bake lemon poppy seed muffins or even better, Sally’s Baking Addiction Orange Sweet Rolls…  Swoon!

Have company at the gym.  This week Ryan got back into the gym.  It’s been a long time coming since his surgery way back in November – he hasn’t had the easiest recovery but he’s been working hard.  It was fun having him join me in TNT, even if I can lift more than him [muahaha]!  No but seriously, I am so proud of him.

Catch Charlie the Chobani bandit.  I take full responsibility and admit that it’s all my doing, but Charlie has become a Chobani addict.  Whenever Ryan or I eat something out of a bowl [cereal, oatmeal, yogurt] Charlie goes crazyyy – even more than when steak is being served.

Watch “Harlem Shake” videos.  For a few shits and giggles, one of the many “Harlem Shake” videos from my alma mater [Boston University]…

Anddd one more…

Postpone my run to be outside.  After checking the forecast yesterday morning, I opted to postpone my run until today – 50 degrees and sunny sounded much more pleasant than 30 degrees and rainy.  It’s hard to believe that my first half marathon is less than 3 weeks away.  I’m starting to feel a little anxious.

Whelp, this post has ended up to be completely all over the place.  If you kept up awesome!  If you didn’t, no worries!  All that’s important is that this weekend was an absolute blast :D   And if I go missing, you most likely can find me at World Market.

Question:  What made your weekend an absolute blast?

Question:  Have you watched any “Harlem Shake” videos?  Feel free to link-up!

Whatcha Think?

  1. dude I followed you. i also was reading at work and my coworker was like WHAT IS THAT ADORABLE DOG, someone is trying to move on charlie. I don’t agree with this. at all. i am so glad we got to hang out, even though you saw me ball my eyes out. a little embarrassing. oh and that german lady, no josh at all.

    • Ryan informed me that jaywalking is in fact illegal. Thank goodness all of those cops were too busy catching criminals or something ;) Haha all of a sudden Charlie seems to have too many girlfriends, playa play!

  2. Awesome weekend, lady love :) I totally agree with you about those running conditions…sunny is always better :P My weekend was an absolute blast thanks to lunch with my mum yesterday. It was delightful, as always!

  3. Sounds great! Safe Haven was SO good. Julianne Hough is too cute. Harlem shake videos make my life happy.

  4. i don’t want to even comment because i’m in a puddle of jealousy on my floor spurred on by your date with alex. i do find it totally appropriate that while you two were seeing safe haven so was i. even from afar we are triplets. can’t wait for next weekend and i cannot WAIT for a world market date in the future. that store is the bessstttttt.

  5. So glad to hear your weekend was so awesome! Yay! And gotta love finding great shopping deals–that’s the best. My weekend rocked, too! I took my last test, and am now a Certified Health Coach! Gah!

  6. It’s a good thing I love you and think that you totally deserved this weekend. Because it was fabulous, and therefore a fabulous person should have gotten to enjoy it. That’s you!! And in that less than three weeks when I’ll get to give you a hug? That’ll be my absolute blast weekend. :)

  7. I kind of love food shopping at WalMart – can’t argue with a good deal! And I also need the World Market place near me…it looks incredible!

Last night, I took the night off from cooking and picked up Subway with the boy (and froyo for me, for good measure) and we watched The Lion King, because somehow he’d never seen it before. Made for a good night :-)

    • I’m not sure if there are any World Markets in Canada but definitely worth looking! If not, you’re always welcome to come down to the DC area for a visit ;)

  8. mmmm i love van’s waffles! thanks for linking up to my orange sweet rolls. :) Your pup is the cutest thing EVER!

  9. I’m not the biggest fan of frozen waffles, but I’ve never tried the Van’s kind before! I need to pick up a box next time I’m at the store. And I really want to see Safe Haven! I’m a sucker for a good tear-jerker.

My weekend was a blast because my mom and sister came to visit and we went to see Warm Bodies (SO good!) and out for dinner. The rest of my weekend has been not such a blast though because I’ve been studying. :P

    • Definitely give them a shot! And if you don’t like them, make wafflewiches out of them – a great switch from regular bread ;) And yay for a fab weekend with your family – I haven’t seen Warm Bodies yet but heard it’s funny!

  10. I had a great weekend, too! I got fitted for my bridesmaid dress for my friend’s wedding in June and spent a great day/evening shopping and eat with my mama!

I hate going to Wal-Mart (due to the atmosphere of most of the stores), but I must admit..they have some great prices!

Charlie is so cute, even as a thief! I am sure you cannot even get mad at him! ;)

    • Aw, I loved shopping for dresses with my bridesmaids – great memories! I’ve only been to Walmart a few times in the past while I was traveling and wasn’t a fan either – thought they were all rather disgusting to be honest… But I think it depends on the area. This one was brand new and I was just planning to go with Ryan, not to do any shopping, but that obviously changed ;)

  11. My weekend was a blast because I kept it simple.. The BF and I went to the outlets and bought new shoes & I went on a hike with a friend. It was great :)

  12. Sounds like an awesome weekend to me! Lately I have been obsessed with the Harlem Shake, it is so funny!

  13. sounds like your weekend was a blast! I just about died at the beanie babie harlem shake video

  14. OK, so I STILL think Chobani MUST post that picture on their site! haha And I also think that I MUST find a World Market! Holy grocery store! That looks like heaven to me! Love the breakfast…totally drool worthy! I saw Safe Haven yesterday and loved it! Such a great movie! So glad Ryan is starting to get back into the gym! Happy Sunday! :)

    • Haha that would be absolutely awesome if Chobani posted that picture! I can continue to dream… And if and whenever you come down to DC we will have to swing by World Market – although there might be one up near you, check their website!

  15. I wanted to see that with my roommate this weekend but she wasn’t feeling like leaving the house (aka we were already in pajamas on the couch eating cake…). Your weekend sounds amazing and I definitely laughed out loud at the picture of the old guy dancing in the chair. 3 weeks until we are all partying TOGETHER… pre-race style ;)

    • Haha I totally would have gone in my PJs :P It’s definitely worth seeing if you get the chance! And I cannot believe how quickly the race is approaching, eek!

  16. This weekend I hosted a Chicago Running Bloggers beer run! It was so much fun!

  17. I actually had a pretty uneventful weekend – but after all the traveling and busy-ness that is sort of what we were going for! I did have an excellent steak this weekend though! haha

  18. I’m dying to make those cinnamon rolls too! Love Sally. Your breakfast looks delish, and running in 50 degrees and sunny weather sounds fantastic! You’re gonna rock that first half marathon for sure!

    • Sally seriously makes the tastiest treats – I seriously have not seen one that I don’t want to try [er, make haha]! I’m pretty sure that 90% of my “Sweet Treats” board on Pinterst are her recipes :P And thanks girl!

  19. I love your little Chobani thief, mine does the same thing!

  20. Sounds like one amazing weekend! Our Walmart is absolutely disgusting, so I don’t care if they are giving food away, I’m not going! Your dog is SO dang cute!
I read Safe Haven and it was such a good book, I’m excited to see the movie. Have a great week :)

    • I’ve only been to Walmart a few times in the past while I was traveling and wasn’t a fan – thought they were all rather disgusting to be honest… But I think it depends on the area and this one was brand new so it was much nicer! And thank youuu! But I think he uses his charming good looks to his advantage sometimes :P

  21. Squee! Fabulous weekend indeed! And I’m so glad to see you in such good spirits after all the mess you’ve been having to deal with over your stomach lately.

Walmart… omigoodness I found myself in there this weekend too, and I seriously could not get over how they had so much of everything in there. Beauty. Clothes. Electronics. Food. Toys. I may or may not have picked up a few puzzles to get busy with, and they may or may not all be Disney related ;)

Happy Monday, girlie! Hope your week is starting out to be just as fabulous!

  22. I think World Market is terrible because it’s so amazing! I have only been once but it definitely got me buying a ton of things I didn’t need.

I have to say, I won’t buy any food from Walmart unless it’s non-perishable. Every time I buy produce it goes quickly VERY bad and all their dairy is always expired! Gross. They do have the best raw maple almond butter though! And it’s a good price!

    • Ugh, I have a feeling that finding out about World Market is not going to be the best for my wallet… I could easily walk out with carts full of unnecessary goodies :P I’ve only been to Walmart a few times in the past while I was traveling and wasn’t a fan – thought they were all rather disgusting to be honest… But I think it depends on the area and this one was brand new and much nicer! Thanks for the tip – I’ll have to look at their AB next time!

  23. I can seriously spend a good hour in World Market browsing. That store is dangerous for me but I ADORE it!!! So many fun foodie items :)

    • I have a feeling that it’s gonna be a love-hate relationship… I love it but my wallet hates it! I could easily walk out with cart after cart full of goodies that I really don’t need but want :P

  24. I love Charlies fuzzy little face! He’s the cutest thing!!!!

Also, I was SO nervous before my half! I had crazy race anxiety dreams where I’d get lost or confused.
