This weekend definitely had it’s marvelous moments! Saturday was an absolute blast and Sunday I logged some miles, despite having an angry puffer fish in my stomach that made most of Sunday pretty painful.
I was hoping to get 11-13 miles in but I just couldn’t do it – I was in pain and pain is an obvious signal to stop. There are still a couple of weeks until the Rock ‘n’ Roll half and after a lengthy Twitter #runchat, my worries have been put to rest and I’m confident that everything will be a-ok.
Thanks for hosting another marvelous link-up Katie!
After wolfing down a large cereal bowl snack, I took a quick shower and ran a few errands with Ryan. We made it home just in time to unload the groceries, make dinner, and tune into E!’s red carpet coverage. Neither of us are big on watching award shows, but I do always enjoy seeing all of the glamorous gowns – it reminds me of high school prom… On a much grander scale
I think the three Jennifer’s looked stunning [loved Lawrence's necklace, Aniston's simple elegance, and Garner's dress], Charlize Theron rocked her new do, and Kerry Washington was glowing. Sadly, Kristen Stewart looked a bit disheveled and did you see Anne Hathaway aka Nippleway’s dress? Eek! What was up with those seams around her bosoms? #fail
Regardless, the majority of the stars looked flawless – both men and women! I’m hinting at Mr. Channing Tatum, swoon. I wish I had someone to dress me up and to do my hair and make-up… Talk about living.it.up!
I can’t even fake that I’m some sort of make-up guru. I’m 23-years-old and embarrassingly don’t have the slightest idea of how to apply eyeliner. I’m aware that it comes in pencil form and a liquid variety, I can’t use either. Every time I’ve tried, I’ve either stabbed myself in the eye or unintentionally have given myself “cat eyes.”
Last spring I subscribed to Birchbox and acquired quite the collection of samples – creams and liners and perfumes and toners - oh my! But since cancelling my subscription [to save some monies], my make-up supply has started to run low. So when SheSpeaks contacted me with the opportunity to try the new L’Oréal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream I happily accepted!
Most mornings my make-up routine consists of applying a dab of on-the-spot gel [we all get those occasional pesky pimples], a light layer of tinted moisturizer, and a dusting of translucent finishing powder.
If I’m feeling extra girly, I’ll brush on some eyeshadow [I'm a big fan of metallic golds] and mascara… I hardly ever wear lip gloss or lipstick – it’s a texture thing, I don’t like the slimy feeling.
The first time I used the L’Oréal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream I was completely confused – it came out white, not beige or “buff” as it’s referred to in the make-up world.
We were advised to apply the cream using our fingertips but I opted to use a cotton swab and rubbed it onto my face and surprisingly it didn’t turn my face ghostly white! Why? Because the self-adjusting beads instantly transform and blend to match your skin tone. And even better, it doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily, nor dry – win win!
A little more about the cream:
This product gives the sheer coverage needed to create a natural bare skin finish, while delivering built-in skincare benefits. With four beautifying actions, this all-in-one innovation primes and smoothes, perfects to hide flaws, hydrates all-day, and corrects and evens skin. The product is infused with skincare ingredients like Panthenol, Vitamin E and Glycerin for 24-hour moisturization.
A month since receiving the sample, I’m almost all out but I definitely think it’s worth the $10.95 price tag and plan to purchase it myself!
FYI: It’s available in four shades and is sold at mass food and drug retailers nationwide. Click here to find out more.
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary product from SheSpeaks/ L’Oréal to facilitate this review. All opinions expressed in this post are my own.
Question: Did you watch the Oscars? Who did you think was the best or the worst dressed?
Question: Are you a make-up guru? Feel free to share some of your favorite tips or tricks!

I didn’t watch this, or at least most of it but man do I love Garner’s dress. She is my girl crush if you care. I know you do. I wish I could say ‘wow I use x y and z and that compares to x y and z makeup’ but let’s be real… I don’t wear makeup and I lack all girl skills. I’ll try again tomorrow.
I am girl crushing on all of the Jenny’s!
I wouldn’t worry about not hitting 11-13 miles. Last summer before my half my longest run ever was barely 10 miles. You’ll be totally fine! The adrenaline carries you through the last few anyways
Don’t even bother asking me about makeup- I don’t even own any. I prefer the au natural look (actually, I just don’t know how to wear makeup). I think we’re beautiful just the way we are. Kidding, that sounds so corny don’t listen to me- I’m on a post yoga high.
I’m not too worried about the distance and definitely think that my adrenaline will be pumping come race time
Some good fuel and rest the week before, I should be all set!
okay, i am taking your beauty tips! i need this!
Bahaha I need someone to share their beauty tips with me, not so sure you should use mine
I absolutely loved Jennifer Lawrence’s dress. She looked stunning. I’m sorry to hear about your run, but there will be many more that I’m sure you’ll completely rock
I love poofy dresses [and pink] so I was instantly sold
And her necklace was a great accent piece!
Congrats on your longest run! That is really impressive
.
Oh my goodness, Anne Hathaway’s dress was a nightmare. My mom and I decided that her stylist should definitely be fired!
Haha so true! Did you hear her say that she picked out the dress just 3 hours before the event? Maybe that was part of the problem… Although, I also heard that she really like “side boobage” it gave her – oyeee!
Me and make up?? Bahahaha last friday’s post says it all…i’m glad you had such a positive experience with that l’oreal studd…i’ve been curious about it for a while now but I’m chicken when it comes to make up experimentation…being poor plays a role in that too ha…may just give this stuff a try when my tinted moisturizer runs out since i’ve never been completely happy with it….oh and i <3 jennifer lawrence so i think that says it all about last night
I’ve stuck to tinted moisturizer in the past but think the BB cream was fab – definitely worth trying!
Umm…not a makeup guru at all. I can actually do eyeliner and eye makeup pretty well (a high school Goth phase will get you tons of practice) but I can’t be bothered with lip glosses or lipsticks, or a lot of powder-y things on my face. I do want to try a BB cream sometime soon though!
Haha I never thought of that but glad those years paid off
I start flinching every time something comes close to my eye – it’s different with shadow since your eyes are closed…
Don’t you just love how your running app is so kind? “Nicely done.” At least someone is cheering you on
I didn’t watch the Oscars, but I really did love Jennifer Lawrence’s dress. I thought she looked stunning.
Haha I love the Nike+ running app
The mid-mile reminders and countdowns are what keep me going!
Absolutely adore makeup! I was actually considering becoming a makeup artist at one point because of how much I loved playing around with my look. I used to go for really big bold looks, but lately I’ve been trying to tone it down a bit and wear things that are more natural… there’s definitely still that part of me that adores getting all dolled up though
As for the Oscars, I didn’t really watch much of the award show aside from the red carpet highlights, but Jennifer Lawrence was definitely my favorite. She just looked so put together and gorgeous. Gah! Love her.
I definitely consider you a make-up guru! And if I’m not mistaken, you did a make-up post not too long ago and I saw that you use BB too… So I must be doing something right
Anddd I have a huge girl crush on J. Lawrence – she seems so REAL!
Congrats on your awesome run; and I’m sorry that you didn’t quite get in 11-13 miles… but you totally did the right thing listening to your body, so good on you
Some of those dresses were seriously so beautiful! My favourite was Jen Aniston’s flowly, elegant red one… just something about a scarlet dress, I swear!
Where can I get me one?!
And I can totally relate to being absolutely clueless about makeup… I just need to invest in a tutor or something, or hit up some Youtube tutorials! I’ve poked myself in the eye on many occasions, so you’re not alone there
I loved how classy and elegant J. Aniston looked! I can’t remember ever seeing her in a tabloid or on TV where I thought she didn’t look simply stunning… And I’ve actually heard that YouTube has some pretty awesome make-up tutorials, I’ll have to give it a shot
Jennifer Lawrence looked PERFECT in her dress. And don’t feel bad about not knowing much about makeup. Heck, before I read this post, I didn’t have the slightest idea what a BB cream was!
Everything about her looked flawless and I loved how simple yet stunning her necklace was! Haha no shame, I had no idea what BB cream was before trying this product
I am exactly the same with make up. I gave up on eyeliners a long time ago!
I use a BB cream, some mascara and that’s about it.
I never had heard of BB creams before trying this product, but now I’m sold!
There were so many beautiful dresses on the red carpet! I love analyzing them and wondering which I’d pick if I had the chance.
Oh goodness, I’d have the hardest time making a decision! But thankfully there are all of the after parties so I wouldn’t have to choose just one
i loved jennifer garner’s dress but i wish kerry had done SOMETHING better with her hair. either way i agree with you on all the dresses. and i’m impressed with your bb review – i wouldn’t know where to begin with applying any type of makeup/foundation sort of stuff but this looks kind of molly-proof. maybe even i could handle it.
I never had heard of BB creams before trying this product but I think I’ve found my new go-to! It’s worth trying and definitely is foolproof
I loved Jennifer A and Jennifer G’s dress. Jennifer Lawrence’s was just too big for me and reminded me of a bedspread. In general, I wish people would get rid of the disheveled bed head look though.
I’m a big makeup person. Most days I go without but I love to experiment with different products. The BB Cream goes on really well with a little damp face sponge.
I agree – the “just rolled out of bed” look is not red carpet appropriate, although I prefer something more than nothing… And I definitely would consider you a make-up guru, love reading your posts and reviews!
oh you posted all my favorite dresses! Hope your tummy feels better miss
I know, I can’t choose just one of them!
I’m with you with the makeup! I’m absolutely horrible at doing my own and used to get my friends to do it in college all the time. I think that was part of the reason I was so obsessed with becoming a reporter-so I could have someone else do my hair and makeup so I wouldn’t have to worry!
The one thing I’ve picked up on is doing eyeliner on just the top and not the bottom-you can use the smudgy thing(so technical, I know) that some pencils come with to help fix any mistakes you make and it’s easier to draw on the top than the bottom! (at least for me). Good thing we’re healthy living bloggers, not fashion bloggers.
Haha I was thinking about that last night – about what if [a big if] I tried to be a fashion blogger… That would be disastrous! Thanks for the tip, I’ll have to look for one of those smudgy things
Ha my makeup design is mostly just stabbing myself a few different ways in the face with some makeup, hoping my boss doesn’t say you look like a mess and leaving it at that. When I see Tim occasionally, I try and look a little bit more decent.
Sounds similar to my routine! I always enjoy getting a little more dolled-up when we go out on date nights… Date nights in = sweats and slippers
I’m terrible at make up and my skin is not a fan so the only thing I ever do is a little mascara and lip gloss for a big night out. I do love seeing celeb’s flawlessly made up faces though, one day I’ll be able to do an eye flick, one day! Love hearing about the product, thanks o haring
Going au natural is the best flawless finish IMO
I think most 12 year olds know more about and are better at putting on makeup than I am. Oh well! I watched some of the Oscars, love seeing all the dresses!
Haha I’d bet that most teenagers know more about make-up than me!
I’m so glad I’m not the only 23 year old who doesn’t know how to apply eyeliner. I look like a clown every time I try to apply it.
I semi-watched the Oscars while I was studying. I loved all those dresses too!
Every time a professional puts it on me I look decent but whenever I do it myself it looks like a train wreck… Would rather not waste my time
I would rather hear your recap of the best/worst dress than the commentators! hilarious! I recorded it so that I can fast forward through the parts I don’t want to see. lol
Hope your belly is feeling better. Any more news?
If we had a DVR I definitely would have recorded it and fast-forwarded through it too – smart idea!
Thanks girly
No new news as of yet… Sunday was tough and the past few days have been a bit off, but nothing new to share.
