it’s Allison but the barista made a mean iced passion tea so I’ll let his little slip-up slide

Ryan:  How was meeting your momma?

Me:  Great – we walked around for a while but didn’t find any good linens and then chatted at Starbucks.

Ryan:  That sounds good!  Did you buy anything?

Me:  Maybe…

Ryan:  You did, I saw the Nordstrom bag!

Haha another example of how I am the least sneaky person.  I needed more probiotics and I haven’t had a Quest Bar for months and and I’ve wanted to buy a pair of TOMS for a while but know that I don’t need any more shoes…  But since I donated a couple bags of clothing and shoes during our move and my momma said that they’d be a good shoe for spring, summer, and fall, I thought they’d be a good “investment” 😉

7-5 Shopping

I’ve seen this survey floating around so I thought it would be fun to hop onto the bandwagon too…

1. What did you eat for breakfast?

Hazelnut coffee with Silk Light Vanilla Soymilk, green grapes, and Cinnamon Vanilla French toast topped with plain Chobani + Grape Nuts + raisins + lightly salted peanuts.

2. How much water do you drink a day?

I don’t keep track but if I were to guess, probably about 100 ounces?  I’ve noticed that I drink more water when I’m at work becuase I keep a huge insulated cup on my desk…  It’s one of those out of sight, out of mind kinda things.

3. What is your current favorite workout?

I started my first round of Best Body Bootcamp a few weeks ago and I’m loving it!  I haven’t run at all since the ZOOMA Annapolis Half on June 1st – it’s kinda crazy to think that I went from running double digit miles to nada.

4. How many calories do you eat a day?

Again, I don’t keep track – I did for a while years ago and it was exhausting.  I typically eat 3 “bigger” meals [breakfast, lunch, and dinner], a couple of snacks in between, and I always the end the day on a sweet note.

5. What are your favorite healthy snacks?

The past couple of weeks I’ve been hooked on 3-Ingredient PB&J Trail Mix.  I’m also a big fan of fresh fruit, rice cakes with hummus or peanut butter, cereal or yogurt bowls, or protein bars if I’m on the go.  With the temperatures creeping up close to 100 degrees smoothies sound more and more appealing.

6. What do you usually eat for lunch?

Fresh veggies, a piece of fruit, a sandwich, and some type of salty + sweet combo.  I’ve found that a good balance of fresh produce + healthy fats + protein + carbs keeps me the most satisfied.

7. What is your favorite body part to strength train?

My legs.  Holy heck, Tina‘s lower body workout this past week made my legs burn!

8. What is your least favorite body part to strength train?

My arms, they’re weak and they show it.  “Sexy and I Know It” just popped into my head, oh LMFAO…

9. What are your “bad” food cravings?

As long as I can remember, my dad always said that everything is “good” in moderation so I’ve never thought of any foods as entirely “bad,” with the exception of highly processed and artificial foods.  Most often my cravings are for sweets – ice cream has been a big craving lately.

10. Do you take vitamins or supplements?

Yup, every morning with my meds I take a women’s multivitamin, magnesium, and a probiotic.

11. How often do you eat out?

Whelp, we have at least a dozen restaurants less than 100 feet from our front door but we’ve only gotten takeout.  We’re trying to be a bit more frugal with our spending habits but that’s fine with me because I want to get back into the groove of cooking more often.

12. Do you eat fast food?

If you consider places like Chipotle, Panera, and Potbelly fast food, then yup.  Also, lately I’ve had a randomly intense craving for fried chicken and yesterday I spotted a brand spankin’ new Chik-fil-a so I may have to swing by there soon.

13. Who is your biggest supporter?

My momma and Ryan.  They’ve been by my side through my toughest times.

5-21 Baseball Game

14. Do you have a gym membership?

Nope, we ended our membership when we moved.  We couldn’t justify spending $100+/ month on a membership when we have access to a gym in our apartment complex and in my office.  I do miss going to classes though so I’m considering joining a cheapo gym that’s close by.

15. How many hours of sleep do you get a night?

Early to bed and early to rise – I usually fall asleep around 9PM and wake up anytime between 4-6AM.

16. Do you have a “cheat”day?

The former teacher in me doesn’t like cheaters so this term irks me…  I try to eat healthfully most of the time but I also indulge in my cravings when they strike.  Life is too short for deprivation.

17. Do you drink alcohol?

I’ve cut back on drinking since being diagnosed with lupus and IBS because of how it makes my body ache the next day, but I still like to enjoy a glass of champagne or wine occasionally.

18. Do you have a workout buddy?

Right now I’m sweating solo – I don’t mind it though becuase workouts are the one time that I can totally disconnect from the world around me.

19. What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?

Connecting with others who I can relate to and share similar interests.

20. What was the last healthy thing you did?

I ate breakfast – gotta break the fast!

Question:  What is your favorite and least favorite body part to strength train?

Question:  What was the last healthy thing you did?

Whatcha Think?

  1. We are twinskies for our favorite and least favorite parts to train! I love my legs and hate my arms haha. I love how close you are to your momma (and that you call her momma on here :) ) and that she and Ryan are your biggest supporters. I feel the same way about mine and Joe. And the last healthy thing I did? Ran 17 miles this morning and then came home for a big french toast and egg breakfast 😀 Have a great weekend, love!!

  2. Questbars & Toms?!?! I call that a success! I love reading these surveys and finding out the little things about bloggers that usually bypass the blog posts. Arms are my least favorite body part to train too, I have some noodley arms that just don’t build muscle….oh well, something to work on!

  3. Tom’s are a definite MUST and a VERY good investment!! :)

  4. I need to stock up on some quest bars today! I love TOMS. I have 3 pair and wear them all the time. It’s awesome to wear them to work because they look cute but feel like slippers! I totally need to make that PB&J trail mix too!

    • I approve of all of the above – how about fueling up with a Quest Bar while wearing a pair of TOMS and then making a batch of PB&J trail mix?!

  5. I kind of want to steal this survey and I am obsessed with the picture of you on your wedding day. I’m all about ending the day with something sweet. Ice cream will be in my life tonight, no doubt about it.

  6. Love this! I just may steal it :) My favorite body part to strength train is arms and my least is abs! The last healthy thing I did was boost my daily caloric intake! I don’t count (totally agree- very exhausting), but I felt my body lagging because I wasn’t getting enough. It’s all about the #bodyLOVE. Happy weekend!

    • That’s great that you were able to recognize what your body needs – sometimes it can be tricky and takes a while to understand… Food = fuel!

  7. I don’t have any TOMS, but I always hear great things about how comfy and versatile they are. And I’m definitely with you on legs being my favourite body part to train – I just feel so badass in the squat rack 😉 I think shoulders have to be my least favourite though!
And I just finished drinking a kombucha, which is clearly a healthy thing to do!

    • I’ve only tried kombucha once and wasn’t a fan… I didn’t try the brand that I always see others post pictures of on IG so maybe that one is better? I’d be willing to give it another shot.

  8. I don’t know what you’re talking about – your arms look strong to me! 😉 My least favourite body part to strength train is definitely my legs because they always get so sore for like 4 days following my workout! I love working out my back and chest though.

The last healthy thing I did was sleep in until 7:10 am. I’m an early riser like you, so I’m always so shocked when I actually manage to sleep in. I guess I needed it!

    • I’m always surprised when I wake up and the clock says anything past 6AM! But I’ve been going to bed earlier and wake up feeling refreshed, so I guess my body is getting enough rest :)

  9. It looks like you had a fun shopping trip with your momma! Are you still taking the same probiotics? I think eating breakfast is one of the healthy things I do every day, it’s my favorite way to start the day :)

  10. Ahh I love TOMS. You can *always* justify a pair of TOMS because of the get one, give one program :) That’s my logic anyway! And unfortunately, I have to use that justification a lot because closed toed shoes end up becoming stinky for me pretty quick (gross).

  11. I bought Tom’s wedges last year and I love love love them. I get so many compliments and they make me tall. A win-win!

I like the survey, too. Do you think you’ll go back to running/train for another event?

    • I definitely will run and train for more races, I’m just taking it slow for a couple of months and focusing on weight training since I focused primarily on distance running this spring.

  12. You get up at 4-6am??? Holy moly girl! I would DIE! Why do you get up so early???

My least fav part of my body to train is my legs because they get so sore and since I sit most of the day, they get stiff! I’m a grandma.

  13. Unsweetened passion teas are my JAM right now!! SO good. I got my first pair of Toms a little over a year ago and they are still going strong!! Sort of..I think I need a ner pair, but until the rip I refuse!! They are the best.

    • That’s great to hear that they’ve lasted you that long without a hole – I’m thinking I “should” purchase another pair so I don’t wear through them too quickly 😛 Ya know, for preventative measures.

  14. i love that this survey is going around so i can learn more about my favorites. <3
we are opposites on strength training. i LOVE lifting upper body and hate lifting lower body. i only do legs when i am taking a group power class b/c i am forced to do so haha.
that turkey sandwich pic is serious food porn to me right now. it looks amazing!
i cannot believe your willpower, all those restaurants and you've only gotten takeout?!

    • I knowww, but I love to cook and as long as Ryan has something to eat he’s fine with whatever 😛 We’ve been keeping dining out as an incentive when we have people over.
