After another weekend on the road, I declared today to be a pajama day. I’ve been catching up on laundry, tidied up around the house, and cleaning out my inboxes.
On Friday we woke up dark and early to get on the road to Connecticut. We spent the night at my aunt and uncle’s house before making our way up to Boston for a wedding on Saturday. The wedding was held at the Omni Parker House Hotel and everything about it was gorgeous! From the bride and groom, to the centerpieces, the cake, and the views of the Boston skyline, it was a lovely event. A big thank you to my mom for coming up to babysit Little Miss!
I wish we could have spent another day or two in the city, but Ryan had to get back for work so we piled back into the car early Sunday morning and drove home. 13 hours in the car with a baby and 2 dogs… It felt like the drive that never ends. It went on and on my friends.
For the next 8 weeks I’m excited to participate in the annual Holiday Sweat Challenge. The Holiday Sweat Challenge was originally known as the Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge, hosted by Amanda from Run To The Finish, but it took on a new identity since Sweat Pink joined the party.
Every year it’s a struggle to find balance during the holidays. How can one possibly fit in a workout when there are gifts to wrap, snow to be shoveled, cookies to bake, and food to make? The mere idea of balance is as fabled as those sugar plum fairies.
I oftentimes wake up with grand plans of having a “perfect” day… I’ll wake up, enjoy a cup of coffee in peace, whip up a delicious breakfast for everyone enjoy, go out for an invigorating run, and the rest of the day I’ll check off things from my to-do list as if I have as much pep in my step as the Energizer Bunny. Too bad that’s a dream and far from reality. But, that’s okay. I can continue to strive for balance. And that’s what this challenge will help me to do!

My goal this week is to log a total of 400 minutes, or more! With yesterday’s 16 mile run on the treadmill, a little over 5 miles this morning, boot camp, and a few more runs this week I think it’s a very attainable goal.

Unsurprisingly most of my workout gear consists of black bottoms and bright tops, most often pink. Black bottoms give me the flexibility to mix and match tops + accessories, while the bright tops add a pop of color. I don’t own much winter running gear, but with a few big races on my calendar next spring I know I’ll need to invest in a pair of lined pants, gloves, and a hat. A running buddy gifted me a gator, so I’ve got my neck covered!
