Favorite Finds: Fall {Coffee Light Frapp}

Heyyyo!  Yesterday I had a meeting with a local principal to discuss my teaching goals – he provided me with great advice and I left feeling confident about the direction that I’m headed…  It makes me so excited to see my plans come to fruition!

After the meeting I swung by Starbucks and ordered a coffee light frappuccino.  Did you know that you can avoid the artificial flavors and sweeteners by requesting no frapp base and adding a banana?!  You can taste the banana, but it reminds me of a chocolate banana milkshake which definitely isn’t a bad thing.  Thanks for the tip Brittany!

10-26 Coffee Light Frappuccino

Once I got home I bundled up for my first cold run of the season (it was in the low 40′s!) and my second 5K of the week.  I know that I’ve mentioned it before, but I’ve hardly run since the spring so it feels awesome to get my groove back.  My pace is without a doubt slower than it was in the spring, but I’m not worried about it.  Time is just a number.  The feelings that I have while running are so much more than just a number.

Since I didn’t share my Favorite Finds yesterday, how about today?

Favorite Finds: It’s All About Perspective

“When you wake up everyday you have two choices.  You can either be positive or negative; an optimist or a pessimist.  I choose to be an optimist.  It’s all a matter of perspective.”

source

Ironically, both of those quotes are by Harvey Mackay.  I didn’t who Mr. Mackay was before searching for “optimistic” and “perspective” quotes…  But after some snooping around on Google I learned that he is: a businessman, author of a nationally syndicated newspaper column and of five business bestsellers, a motivational speaker, and the founder and chairman of Mackay Mitchell Envelope Company.  Evidently he is a very, very successful man.  I’m not in the business field, but I now have an interest in reading one of his books – perhaps it will help me on my journey to finding my right fit?

As Mr. Mackay suggests, we all have two choices when we wake up – to be positive or to be negative – and today I’m choosing to be an optimist.  It’s Friday and it’s an absolutely beautiful day.  I ate the most delicious blueberry cupcake with pumpkin cream cheese icing for breakfast.  I received an email just as I opened my computer that my substitute paperwork was processed.  I’m planning to bake/make some of my recent pins this afternoon.  I’m going for a run among the gorgeous fall foliage.  And tomorrow we’re going apple picking with friends.  How can I not be in a great mood?

Throwback Thursday: Engagement Photos

The past two days I’ve spent hours sorting through pictures and I’m still not done.  Over the past couple of years I’ve gotten better about organizing my pictures into albums (by month or by event), but before then I simply would connect my phone to my computer, upload the pictures to iPhoto, and most likely never look at them again.

One perk of sorting through old pictures is having the chance to relive great memories…  Summer vacations, goofy moments, college graduation, holiday gatherings, puppy Charlie, our wedding.  And one memory that I thought I had already shared was our engagement photo shoot, but according to my archives I haven’t.  I did share pictures of our engagement story and our engagement party here.

Ryan and I lucked out when a girlfriend of mine offered to take our engagement pictures.  If you saw her work, you’d know why we couldn’t refuse her gracious offer.  So one cold morning in February of 2012 we took the train up to New York City and made a weekend getaway out of the opportunity.

P.S.  You can read more about Heather here – she wrote a truly inspirational guest post for LAB about her modeling career when I first started blogging, plus a second post about she truly began living live here.
