Successes Sunday {Week 12}

My body is tired and my brain is fried.  But…


So I guess I’m just getting a lot stronger?!

Successes Sunday

1.  Listen to my body.

-It was another busy week between school, squeezing in workouts, and attending wedding consultations…  It was busy but it all got done and most of it was fun!

-I have been trading calls back and forth with the GI office.  I’m hoping to schedule the second colonoscopy for sometime in early April.

-On Friday I was sick at home…  I woke up at 5AM with a small cramp but didn’t think much of it and went about my normal morning routine [shower, pack lunches, eat breakfast, take care of some odds and ends].  In the car on the way to school, the cramp intensified to a stabbing pain and I knew that I wouldn’t make it through a full day of school.  As soon as I got to school, I filled out a sub request and thankfully it was filled.

2.  Save money.

-Total grocery savings for the week: $42.96 [and bet it would be more if TJ’s collected coupons/ had sales]!

-Limiting myself to 2 Sbucks a week has become easy!  During the week I’ll enjoy a cup of coffee with breakfast at home and pack a tumbler [or two] to bring with me to work.  The biggest thing that I miss about my Sbucks cappuccino is the frothy milk…

-On Saturday I bought a new pair of Nike running sneakers!  I could not be more excited!  Not only are they pretty good-looking [in my opinion],  but they were only $52 [originally $75, on sale for $65, and I had a 20% off coupon]- it felt like a steal 😀  Since I’m not training for any upcoming races I didn’t want to spend $100+ on a pair of sneakers that would be primarily used on the elliptical or push the pedals on the spin bike.


-On Sunday I got a haircut!  I have put it off for a while now because spending $100 on a wash, a few snips, and a blow-dry seems a little ridiculous to me…  But after going to the same guy for years, I’ve had a hard time convincing myself that it’s okay to try someone new.  Sound silly?!  But after talking with a couple of my girlfriends, I made an appointment at a new salon and I’m happy that I did!  I didn’t change much because the wedding is in a few months and think that there are more fun styles to choose from if it’s longer, but I can definitely tell that my ends feel much healthier.

3.  Train Charlie.

-Since watching the puppy training show last weekend and learning that one of the best ways to train a puppy is to give them a highly stimulating reward, Ryan and I have been giving Charlie “pupperonies” [aka turkey pepperoni slices]!  And let me tell you, it works!  We use 1 “pupperoni” and tear it into tiny pieces to get about 5 tricks out of the little guy…  He definitely has mastered sit, so we’re focusing on lay down, speak, crawl :)

-Charlie is still losing teeth!

Daily Memorable Moment March 25:  It was a good day at the mall [without even buying anything!]…  Ryan and I met one of my girlfriends to see The Hunger Games, I got a haircut, and on our way out we bumped into another girlfriend who was jewelry shopping so I couldn’t resist joining and offering her some advice!

Successes Sunday {Week 9}

I’ve come to realize [as I’m sure y’all have to from reading recent posts] that when you are planning a wedding there is really only one thing on your mind…  YOUR WEDDING!  Every ounce of energy is put towards envisioning your dream day, choosing what you like and dislike, visiting vendors, making decisions, creating lists, writing checks, tasting tasty treats, and the most important of all, staying organized.

The past two weekends Ryan and I, with the help of my momma, have done all that.  I am so happy and excited to share that we have made tremendous progress over the past two weeks and hopefully that means that in the coming months we can sit back and watch everything fall in to place [I’m keeping my fingers crossed]!

Since last week’s wedding updates, we have:

  • Interviewed more photographers
  • Interviewed more florists
  • Asked our attendants to be in our wedding
  • Are 99.9% sure we have found THE DRESS and shoes for the bridesmaids
  • Finalized the guest list
  • Created an Excel spreadsheet with all of our guests information to send out the “Save the Date” cards
  • Outlined all of our expenses thus far
  • Read and reviewed contracts [and plan to mail them later this week!!!]

PHEW, I’d say that’s great progress 😀  I do admit that I feel slightly guilty for asking Ryan to come to all the consultations with me, especially the floral ones, but he keeps reassuring me that he’s having fun too!  We’ll see if he still says that AFTER the wedding…


In other news, life is going pretty well.  I am still experiencing digestive problems but I’ve come to accept the “stinky” [hehe] problems and I’m just trying my best to handle each day as it comes…  There’s not much I can do until I go back to the doctor for another colonoscopy [which I am postponing as long as possible, bad I know].

I’m swamped at school with things that need to be done ASAP.  As I’ve mentioned before, my students do not participate in the typical state standardized tests so I have to create mini portfolios for each of them showcasing their work.  It’s a LOT of work for both the students and me.


Successes Sunday

Have you noticed a recurring theme with Successes Sunday? AKA it should be Successes Monday since the past couple of weeks I’ve been a day late [oops]!

1.  Listen to my body. 

Last week my head and chest were full of congestion so I tried to keep it pretty low-key.  Workouts were easy…  I attempted to go to a yoga class Wednesday night but the time listed on the schedule was wrong and the yoga instructor was late so after waiting for 30+ minutes I called it quits and just rode the bike.  Sleep was all my body really wanted and waking up Saturday morning after 10 hours of sleep felt really good!

2.  Save money.

I saved about $50 last week at the grocery store!  This week I have a goal of keeping track of exactly how much money I save at the grocery store by shopping sales and using coupons…  One pitfall is that TJ’s doesn’t have sales or accept coupons but their prices typically are better than any of the mainstream grocery stores.  AND guess what…  Last week I only bought 1 Sbucks…  That’s definitely a success!

3.  Train Charlie.

He sits, speaks, and loves to play fetch.  He goes to the bathroom outside 99.89325% [percent guess courtesy of Ryan] of the time and when he has an accident inside he runs and hides.  As my momma said yesterday, we lucked out…  He’s a delightful puppy!

So Much Excitement

No words can express how EXCITING the past couple of days have been…

After we left the kennel, the fun continued…  I got a Keurig!

The sun is shining and it’s a beautiful day- I’m taking it as a sign that 2012 is going to be a great year!  My Dear and I are headed out to run some errands [aka buying puppy supplies] or to see a movie this afternoon.  Tonight we’re planning to have dinner with my momma and then later head downtown to spend New Year’s Eve with some friends [playing board games and sipping champagne]!
